Crytek announced that Performance Update 4.2 has now been released to  the Hunt: Showdown live servers. For this update, the Hunt team focused on ensuring that the game’s framerate, smoothness, and overall performance improved by fixing a number of matters concerning frame drops, stutters, and spikes. The team also spent time optimizing CPU usage in order to boost performance on lower-end hardware and configurations. Thanks to these changes, overall framerate should increase for many users—and we will only continue to improve on this in further updates.

“Players will get some improvements to the threading, as that is one of the main causes of the stalls that we have identified. Overall we are going to reduce the pressure on your CPU cores,” explains Technical Director Sebastien Laurent in a video about the update released today on the Hunt YouTube channel.

“You should also see a slight decrease in the memory usage, we see about 15% memory reduction and people with lower-end hardware should see a framerate increase as well,” adds Level Design Director Chris Auty.

Further details are discussed in the full video, which can be viewed here. Alternatively, players can read about the update’s details in the patch notes.

About Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map, while Hunt’s quickplay mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything. Hunt is available now on Steam. For more information, visit https://www.huntshowdown.com/.
