The German Developer Awards (Deutscher Entwicklerpreis) honor the best in games coming out of German-speaking countries each year, and this year Hunt: Showdown won in both the Best Graphics and Best Sound categories at the gala in Cologne, Germany last night. The German Developers Prize was first awarded in 2004 and has since become one of the most sought after prizes for developers in Germany.
“Great graphics have always been Crytek’s calling card, and we’ve worked hard to continue that tradition with Hunt: Showdown,” said Lead Producer Fatih Özbayram. “We’ve also been really proud of what the team have been able to achieve with sound in this game. The monster’s growls, the sound of gunshots in the distance—it really helps to immerse players in the Hunt world. We are honored to have the team recognized for their hard work and dedication by the German Developer Awards.”
Hunt: Showdown first appeared on the scene at the 2017 E3, with a gameplay video that impressed players and earned it several prizes, including Best of E3 from PC Gamer and Best E3 PC Exclusive from Game Informer. The game launched on Steam Early Access in February 2018 and has been in constant development—with the help of an active player community—ever since, with new updates or patches coming at least once a month. An Xbox Preview launch is on the horizon for Hunt: Showdown as well.
