Senior Technical Writer
- Responsibilities
- Write new and update existing technical documentation related to CRYENGINE.
- Support the HUNT: Showdown and Crysis 4 (Working Title) development teams with structuring, creating, and maintaining their documentation:
- Meticulously evaluate and improve the knowledge transfer and documentation strategy of multiple development teams through close communication and collaboration.
- Identify critical issues on these teams and proactively work with the Documentation team lead in resolving them.
- Collaborate with the CRYENGINE Learning team in improving the CRYENGINE onboarding strategy for all teams
- Contribute to the decision making involved in the laying out the documentation roadmap of multiple development teams, in alignment with the CRYENGINE roadmap.
- Innovate documentation and collaborative processes within the Documentation team.
- Ensure that all written documentation is of a high professional standard in terms of technical accuracy, attention to detail, English usage and presentation.
- Train and mentor new Technical Writers.
- Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional technical writing or related experience, for e.g., programming, business correspondence, journalism, or other writing roles.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to gather information via different means (one-on-one communication, workshops, video demonstrations etc.) and distill it into written form.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation that can be understood by an international audience whose first language may not be English.
- Ability to write appropriate documentation and for specific audiences – this will include brand new users of CRYENGINE all the way through to seasoned professionals.
- Ability to work and stay organized while dealing with multiple dynamic teams with different styles of work.
- Willingness to study and learn the nuances of any and all game development disciplines for the purpose of creating better documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proactive, customer-driven mindset.
- Confidence in leading meetings, presentations, and the ability to clearly articulate ideas/opinions.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work alone using own initiative.
- Competent with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word.
- Passion for making games and for gaming technology.
- Willing to relocate to the Frankfurt am Main area, Germany.
- Pluses
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or for e.g. English, Journalism etc. (providing a strong interest/ability can be shown for Computing/Technology).
- Experience in working with Confluence, Wiki
’s or other web-based documentation systems. - Experience in using CRYENGINE or any other leading Game Engine(s).
- Experience in using image editing tools such as Photoshop, Snagit, Paint etc.
- Experience in using designer tools such as Maya, 3ds Max etc.
- Experience in using JIRA, Perforce, GitHub etc.
- Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment.
- Basic knowledge of modern programming/scripting languages, e.g., C++, C#, Python etc.
- Games industry experience.
