Check in With Crytek at Gamescom 2016

In less than 48 hours, Gamescom 2016 will be kicking off in Cologne – and we can’t wait! As usual, Crytek will be in town for the world’s largest gaming expo, and this year we’re excited to be serving up not one, but two public premieres.

For starters, gamers making their way to our booth in the Cologne Exhibition Center can lose themselves in a playable demo of our upcoming PS VR exclusive, Robinson: The Journey. If exploring a mysterious and dangerous extrasolar planet populated by dinosaurs sounds like your idea of a good time, you’re in luck – Robinson has it all. Check out the video below for a taste of what’s in store, and be one of the first to experience the world of Robinson for yourself at booth C40, Hall 6 during Gamescom.

In another exclusive Gamescom offering, we’ll be inviting visitors to the Crytek booth to get to grips with the soon-to-be-released Oculus Touch controllers and take them for a spin in The Climb – our VR rock climbing game out now for Oculus Rift. With the powerful new motion controllers in hand, players can reach out and grab the rock in a new way as they negotiate their way to the top of the game’s vertigo-inducing cliff faces one handhold at a time.

In total, Crytek will have 32 VR demo stations spread across three locations at Gamescom, and the action doesn’t stop there. Our main booth in Hall 6 will also be home to prize raffles every day, giving gamers the chance to walk away with much more than a glimpse of the future. We’ll also be playing host to two very special developers who are using our CRYENGINE technology to do amazing things.

One of those will be the talented team at Automation, who are hard at work on Deceit – a unique online multiplayer game that casts some players as prey and the others as hunters in a deadly game of cat and mouse. The problem? Nobody knows who is friend or foe until the lights go out – a guaranteed recipe for trust issues.

Also joining us will be the good people from Gymcraft, who are using gaming technology to bring some groundbreaking ideas to the world of fitness training.

And finally, beyond the Crytek booth, you can also see how Warhorse Studios have been putting CRYENGINE to work as they close in on completion of their medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The game hit the headlines back in 2014 when it smashed through its Kickstarter funding goal in less than 36 hours – going on to raise over $2 million in crowdfunding from fans. This week at Gamescom, you can see what all the fuss is about at booth B12, Hall 2.1.

Gamescom (and the Crytek booth) will be welcoming trade visitors from Wednesday this week, before opening its doors to the public from Thursday to Sunday. A full list of Crytek’s whereabouts at the show can be found below. And for those of you who can’t be there in person – don’t worry – we’ll be reporting live from the expo every day. So keep your eyes here on and our official Facebook and Twitter pages for all the latest news and updates. Game on!
